Hopefully this will cover any outstanding questions. PLEASE READ THEM ALL... Plan on meeting at WR at noon at these coordinates: 32.817506, -98.325858 (32 49 03.0N 98 1933.1W) We will direct you to the campsite from there. Please arrive at WR by noon on Sunday. Arriving very early (which some of you are rumored to want to do) will mean that you will be hauling your gear across the camp to our site (and really irritating the camp staff!). We will not know what site we get until Sunday morning. Everyone needs to bring at least one Nalgene - you will carry it EVERYWHERE you go. A carabineer to hook it to your belt is handy. A day pack is really handy to carry your Nalgene and raincoat in. No open toe shoes, ever. Parents, please wear sensible shoes to drop off your Scouts. No aerosol spray cans - that includes sun screen and bug spray. This is a no electronics campout. Have them leave them in your car there are no facilities to lock them up at camp. If you need an alarm clock, bring a watch or an actual alarm clock! No fancy watches (iPhones) this week. Parents, please help us out here. Word is from WR that the mosquitos are in force at the camp. This link (http://forms.troop17.net/forms/Summer_Camp_Bug_Net_Directions.pdf) provides directions to build a mosquito net frame that can go over your cot. Get the PVC at Home Depot and the bug net at Academy (or your own favorite home improvement and sporting goods stores). This is easy to build. If you need PVC glue, I will have a can with me at camp. Please bring notebook paper and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to send a letter home - everyone will write at least one. Anyone planning on working on the Cooking Merit Badge should have already discussed this with the Cooking MB counselor, Mr. Goldthwaite to review the requirements to complete this while at WR. This is not the normal method to complete the MB and you need Mr. Goldthwaites permission to proceed. Please call him today if you are unsure of the requirements (817) 929-3525. Parents, the poop sheet includes the mailing address for camp send your Scout a letter TODAY to ensure that it gets there in time. ***Please go back and reread the poop sheet!*** If you are planning on working on our pioneering project in camp, please be sure to bring gloves. OF staying with us - please bring your in person YPT card (preferably a copy to leave with the camp) DO NOT BRING...Fireworks, weapons, sheath knives, axes, pets, bows and arrows, Nintendos, Game Boys, X-Box 360s, Commodore 64s, iPods or CELL PHONES (they will be confiscated). All 3rd year (or longer) WR campers should see me to discuss earning the Worth Ranch Scout Award so we can discuss this with the Program Director at camp. If you have a family emergency during the week, I will have my cell phone (817-239-0166) or you can contact the camp office at 940-659-2195. Once again, for emergencies only. Scouts may not leave camp with anyone but their parent or legal guardian. If you want to have someone else pick them up on Saturday, please bring me a note with stating that you grant permission for your Scout to leave with Mr. or Mrs. X. Prescription medication must be in the original bottle from the pharmacy and must include the name of the Scout, the date, the name of the prescribing doctor, and the correct dosage. We will keep it for you at your request. Scouts should know what to take and when to take it. For medications for life threatening conditions (inhalers, allergy kits, etc), Scouts should carry these themselves, just like they would outside of camp. Over the counter medication will be maintained in the Troop first aid kit. The name of the Scout should be on the package. For those wanting to eat in the dining hall on parents night (THURSDAY), I need a count before you leave on Sunday. Please plan on being at WR at 6:00pm to eat in the dining hall. Adults are $8 and siblings under 10 are $5. By Thursday, your Scout may want food from the "outside world" so be sure to check with them now. Please make sure that your Scout knows if you are coming out on Thursday or not. We will ask you that question at check in too. We do not know when our campfire will be on Thursday. We will find that out on Monday. No persons under the age of 18 are permitted to drive on Scout property. Lunch is NOT provided on Sunday. Please be sure you and your Scout have eaten lunch or bring something with you. ***Please go back and reread the poop sheet!*** Here is the list of items each patrol member should bring... Flaming Arrow Patrol Members - Watermelons- for a special fruit experience. 2 each if you can. Unknown Patrol Members - Drink mixesKool Aid, Gatorade, etc. it makes the water taste better! Bring large packages we will use them for the troop water jugs. 2 packages if you can. Eagle Patrol Members - Big bag of chips and dips. Panther Patrol Members Large bags of cookies (several bags ideally). We will snack on these. Staff - Apples, oranges, bananas, grapes or other fruit. OF please bring ice. There is a trading post, Scouts could bring some $$ for extra things like frozen pickle juice shots, swirls, a belt, tickets for ammunition, or whatever else the trading post staff can dream up to sell. The Camp Director loves to say bring your money to camp and leave it in the trading post :). Wear your bathing suit under your Scout shorts on Sunday. The first place we will go when everyone has arrived is the pool. ***Please go back and reread the poop sheet!*** If you have not fully paid for camp, please bring payment with you. Parents, we will not get our campsite assignment until Sunday morning so. Camp check in starts at 1:00 pm. There may be some waiting around when you get there. We can unload your vehicles into a central drop area as long as everything is packed into as few "things" as possible. A day pack and a trunk is ideal. I greatly appreciate your patience. Last week, exactly at 1:00pm, a thunderstorm dropped buckets of rain in the middle of the check in process at WR so everything was temporarily halted. Everyone got in, but it did take a while to get people moving again. Speaking of weather...IT IS GOING TO BE HOT...VERY HOT next week. Scouts AND PARENTS need to always have water with them, even Sunday during the drop off at Worth. I am really looking forward to next week and think we are going to have a great time. The Troop and Camp staff have fun activities planned every day. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday and to giving you back your Scouts on Saturday morning :). Please call your patrol leader if you have any questions. Mr. Turner
